Title: Byron barkers Envoy
Post by: Andrew Saunders on May 12, 2014, 06:16:19 PM
This past February i had gotten Byron Barker's Envoy. The fuselage had some bare wood spots, the wing needed patching, and the engine on the plane is a super Tigre 60 that byron reworked himself and was  frozen from dried up castor. I had repainted the fuselage so its at least sealed, and kept the original wing coverin. The engine i worked on and freed it up. It still has allot of compression and did a test run on the engine yesterday. Runs great. Ill post a before and after pic.

I really think that may be one of Allen's models, the more I think about it, from way back in his ST.60 days. Probably gave/old/traded it to Byron maybe? With Allen's finishing methods, old AMA numbers can be changed out pretty easy, depending on how he put them on. Unless you know the specific history of the airplane, it may be a double dip in significant previous owners.
If you haven't flown it yet, get yourself some Vess 13-6 props for that Tigre .60. It's the best current production wood prop I have found for them yet.
Have fun and fly well with it,
   Dan McEntee

Dan you are right. I talked to Wes Aekins and This Envoy was originally owned by Allen Brickhaus. Allen did a great Job desgning the plane also. Byron flew it for awhile till he wasnt able to fly . Im not sure if im gonna fly the plane or not. Im not too sure on the shape and reliability of the leadouts. Im gonna do a pull test on it first and make my decision on wether to fly it or not.
