Buttafucco Stunt Team Fathers Day Address to the Nation
« on: June 15, 2014, 01:11:33 PM »
On fathers day
  I don't want a tie.
Give me a five knot wind
  And a clear blue sky.
A well trimmed plane
  and a motor with grunt.
On fathers day,
  I wanna fly stunt.

Happy Fathers Day!!!
(I miss you dad)

My dad knew nothing about model planes.  His hobby was growing flowers.  But he encouraged my hobby, and he built me two nice work benches for my modeling.  An all-round good guy.  He lived for 93 years.

My dad was an avid modeler and I learned about 90% of this hobby from him. The rest I learned from the likes of Brett, Ted, Dave and the late great Jim Tichy.

Nice poem. I learned a lot of modeling from my dad too. Nice to have a mentor.

Nice poem. I learned a lot of modeling from my dad too. Nice to have a mentor.

One of my earliest modeling memories was my Dad's Nobler/Fox 35 grinding round in the Salina, Kansas flourescent lamp factory (which is designed and built) parking lot. And then, eventually, that familiar "whump" of it splattering itself into about 7 million read flakes, along with the case and crankshaft. I still have engine (repaired) and it will go into my Classic plane if I ever build one. With no muffler, of course, because that's just how it was done at the time. Did I mention he's deaf as a post?

Thanks for the poem Larry.  My Dad was a great supporter of my model plane endeavers.  Did see me win a beginners fun contest when I was just learning about the bigger planes.

I too learned allot from my Dad who turned 92 in January. He was not a competitive modeler and he became very proud of my accomplishments in FF. He can't built anymore, nor can he even read, macular degeneration has robbed him of the ability to see much more then general shapes at a distance. Still, he loves to sit and talk modeling and engines, its all he has left now so I need to get there as often as possible.

My Dad was also a non-modeler, artist and flower grower, but he would drive us to the Sepulveda basin from Hermosa Beach to fly. Lived to 96. His artwork is world class! My mom painted too. T hey met at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She lived to 94!

Rest in peace, Twywin Lannister.  Unfortunately it was on Father's Day that he was shot not once, but twice, by his son Tyarian.
