On the second flight of my Score the wing came loose in the saddle while I was inverted.  Of course I was flying over asphalt at the time and the very shallow angle it went in at caused the cowl, canopy, and vertical stab to be ground away.  I have since decided to rebuild the plane and should have it ready to fly this weekend.  Thanks to Louis I have a new cowl and canopy and am looking forward to getting it back in the air.  I may even install a pilot if it flies okay.

That's actually kind of cool, looks better than the stocker! If you do a nice built up cowl you'll be there. (The stock cowl on the Score is b**t ugly!)

It looked like it needed some attention and I thought it was a pretty good flier what little I did have it in the air.

It will have the glass cowl for now though.

Thanks Bill.  I skidded about a quarter lap on the nose and tail.  It did make cutting the tail off easier

The repair looks great.  Now was the wing bolt on or glued.  On my ARF Oriental the wing used to come unglued on the out board side.   DOC Holliday

It was glued in.  I checked it after the first flight and it was secure.  The second flight I did some overheads and some square maneuvers.  On the bottom of the outside square as I turn it back up it let go.  Fortunately, it did it at the very bottom and made a very shallow descent into the pavement. 

I reinstalled the mounting hardware and glued it back in again.  I like the 30's style look it has now and still have to install the new cowl.

Have you been able to fix the loose wing syndrome on your Oriental?

Yes I fixed the Oriental and it is completely recovered.  Had to cut fuselage top in order to glue it properly.  Also the little bottom peice that goes under the wing is glued solid.   DOC Holliday

So I guess the take-apart feature is not such a good idea?. Did you use the stock wing bolts before it came apart, or had you upgraded them? Mine hasn't flown yet,Im back in the hospital. I'll have to look at my install very hard before it goes up!Thanks!

The last I heard from Allen Hahn was that he was having good luck with his ARF Nobler being a take apart (just using the nylon bolts to hold the wing on).

I have ordered my round cowl from Fiberglass Specialties and have accumulated the Tom Morris controls. a Saito .72 and a venturi for the .72 from Bene Rodrigues.  I have drawings and color documentation for the La-7 in grey, red and white.  I will build a new stab, elevator and vertical rudder to match the La-7 outlines.  Installing the Tom Morris controls will allow a wing tip shape change also.
