got the red box kit complete on ebay for 35 bucks. Other than the missing radiator (no problem) complete. Plan to use a Forster 35. Will use strategically place lightening holes where necesarry. Has anybody built and flown this guy. What will it do and what are the limitations? Any other tips appreciated. have the SE5 as well.

It will fly like any scale model of the day. Keep it light and the ones I seen only had .19 size engines. If you go with a .35 it will do basic maneuvers like loops, eights and inverted. If you go a three line system it will be a sport scale fun flying plane.

Got one with a McCoy .35 Redhead on it that my dad built int he late 70's when I was growing up. Loved that plane. still have it, its on my list of stuff to do, you know in the que so to speak. It just needs recovered and a couple of minor fixes. if I am not mistaken the D7 has flaps and the SE5 did not, although I guess one could add them pretty easily.
I remember doing loops and such with it way back when.
Good memories

SE5A uses Ailerons as Flaps , driven ? by Dowles thru to fuselage .
Picture in old mag " Stirling SE5 flying the schedule " , pictured inverted .
Built real light , it might ? ?
