Title: Build it and they will come (we hope)
Post by: david beazley on August 30, 2010, 08:36:46 AM
I have been learning CL for about 2-1/2 years now after 25+ years of being on the dark side(RC).  A couple of us in our RC chlub have been flying CL at our field on an unlevel circle and opportunity has smiled upon us.  One of our members owns a construction company and has made us an offer we can not refuse.  He is grading our circle for the cost of fuel.  Saturday he began.  The pictures show the progress.  Our new circle will be dead level(not the 5'+ gradient difference we had)  We should have final grade finished by Labor Day weekend.  We hope to attract new CL folks as well as seasoned vets who can show us how to really fly CL.  The pix show the high and low sides of the old circle and the rough grade for the new one.  Final diameter will allow 70' lines.  We are located in central Virginia near Charlottesville.  We hope to start having CL events next spring.

I just think it's so cool that there seem to be so many RC clubs that are accepting of control line flying -- mine has certainly proven to be so far (I think you'll end up with a nicer circle than ours, though).

I'm jealous.........my circle has about a 6' difference......do you think he would grade mine for fuel? I'll even feed him and furnish the liquid refreshment of his choice.... H^^ ;D
