Easier said than done. Hanging out at the Mancave isn't her idea of fun.

Thank you Mike, I can't tell you how much this Menes to me. Looking at the other names on the plaque I am in good company.

And thanks to all who attended, including Bill (crash to much) Morell, his gift to me was way over the top. thanks so much Bill.

And to my wonderfull Wife and best friend of thirty years Ramona, she encourages me, and lets me indulge in this hobby of ours

to what we like to call at the Mancave, moderation through excess. What I ever did to get her I will never know.

Wow, I am not even sure where to begin on this one...

First, that is Antone Kephart on the right, behind the post is Mike Costner and John Wight behind Warren's elbow. The other photo is Eric Rule presenting Warren the plaque.

Having met Bill Morell first, then Warren, it was a very rare and deeply meaning full evening of time with friends.
I can serve as no better example of why Warren deserves this award.

The award, to honor those who have made an undiable contribution for the betterment of our hobby, is true beyond measure in my life.

I met Bill through an eBay auction, has it been 10 years Bill? Live only a few miles apart for 50+ years, and have been friends ever since. His passion for all things control line matches my own. He introduced me to Warren who at the time was Knights Of The Round Circle president. Again, instant friends.  I started attending Knights meetings and events and have come to know the greatest contributors to this hobby.

Warren and as he calls her, "My Sweetheart," Ramona Walker have been life changing friends. Far, far beyond control line. All of us true control liners have the common bond of being kindred souls, but Warren & Ramona give so much support and goodwill to all who are friend. They helped me in a big way when I moved to Montana.

The Douglass Award going to Warren is magnified by the fact he received this award, in his own words, "in the spirit of Bill Heyworth." This is exactly what I a mean, a selfless, giving man who has earned the plaque that can go next to "The Spirit of '52" award... there I did it! I tied Warren's humanity to our hobby along with his killer airplanes!

Bill Morell: what an awesome thing you did. I have been thinking all day how fortunate I was to be standing right next to you guys when you gave the Umland kit to Warren. He let us look at the kit again after you left (I was about 20 min behind you) it was great seeing you there.

All the other Knights present last night, what a great time laughing and just having fun...

Moderation Through Excess.... someone should copyright that...

Also look through the window in the background and you get an idea of what the Mancave is all about... notice two plaques on the column, there are several more throughout.

I was really pleased that I was able to attend last night. Seeing Warren get a most deserved award and getting to hear what it is all about made it that much more special. Warren, I do hope that you will start that kit soon but please don't feel that you need to do a "Build Thread" to document it!

Aww, c'mon...the build thread could run to at least 534 photos and use up all that excess bandwidth!

I was there and the night was SPECIAL!  Ramona, always the gracious hostess, provided Pizza, Lasagna and Salad; Warren made home made garlic bread.  Someone brought a wonderful chocolate cake, and as usual, the wine flowed like water!  We sort of sang "Happy Barton Award to YOU!", off, at least, several keys.

We had a toast to Bill Heyworth, a giant among supporters of Control-Line flying, whose passing saddens us all.  Our hearts go out to Elaine, and all our friends in Tucson who were even closer to him than we. His cheerful presence will be sorely missed.

I will see if I can remember all the attendees, forgive me if I forget several people.  My memory is like a steel.....sieve.

Bill Morell, Dave Kick, Bill Byles, John Wright, Dennis Coleman, Antone Kephart, Phil Hawkins, Eric Rule ( who did the presentation ), Mike Alurac, Mike Costner, Two others, whose names I can't remember, but one brought Cheesecake last week and the other, home made Hummis the week before, and petit moi.  Of course Ramona and her father Rich were there too.

It is impossible to describe being an ivitee to the mancave on a regular basis.  It can get al bit "rank", but always in good spirits.  Sort of Jr. High among best friends, if you know what I mean.  The facilities are great, the popcorn machine and Pinball machine and spray booth, are just not something you will find in the average garage.  then there are the BBQs, the Smokers, and the Paella setup.

If you haven't been there, you HAVE NOT BEEN THERE!  It is impossible to really describe the camaraderie. (No matter how juvenile)  LL~
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!
