Brodaks Tuesday

Twas a dark and cloudy morn. A little light rain but nothing that slowed anything down much. After most of the competition was over the sun came out for a good while.

Whats amazing is that the silver P-40 profile in those pictures was in a bazillion pieces Thursday morning, the result of an ill timed engine flameout.  Artie rebuilt that thing in an all nighter Thursday night and has it in the air at Brodaks.  Thats dedication!

Elwyn, we all become stars when you push the button. Thanks. I flew that Hellcat on Tuesday. Had a great time. I wanted to publically thank John and his staff. The flight line never stopped and I never felt any pressure. Really well done. I will plug the plane, it's Johns Hellcat ( It flies like an updated Nobler) , and the power system which is also John's. I had the Arrowind 2820-09, Castle systems Icelite 50 ESC and Will Hubin FM2-C timer. The battery pack was the Arrowind 4S 2500. Push the button and drive. Prop was a modified APC 13x4.5. I cut it down to 11 inches. I also narrowed the blade to the original shape by using a template I made of the blade before I cut it off. I aligned the template to the shortened tip and the leading edge. Cut it to the new shape and sanded the airfoil back to the original. It pulled well.

I can’t believe that Artie Jessup rebuilt that YP-40 after crashing it straight in on cement Thursday. That plane was in a million peace's. I’ll have to check it out Thursday when I arrive at Brodaks.

Artie is the God of fixing things!  Even Humpty Dumpty would be fixable with his rebuilding skills!  I need to bring my T-Rex over to Artie's house and see how to repair it.
