Cloudy and windy earlier today with a lot of fliers passing on round two. The stunt competition finished fairly early. After some midday heavy rain we had lots of sunshine. Here's a few shots from today.

Great shots. You caught my yellow Vector just before it got blown out of the hourglass. It got windy when I flew.

Glad you like the photos. I enjoyed having some unique designs to photograph this time. Hope to see you all again next year.

The wind on Saturday was bad. Windy got blown out of his vertical 8 bad. Most of the experts passed their flight kind of bad. I flew since at the time I was in 4th. And I got through the whole pattern and brought the Ares down in 1 piece. I ended up coming in 5th. Of course Windy got my flight on video. I will say this, the Ares never lost line tension anywhere, it slowed down but never lost line tension until the wingover pullout of the 4 leaf, but I got through it.

The Fox twin was Doug Dahlke's. He had it running at the MECA meet in Muncie last year. It ran very smooth. The numbers on the engine mount are the needle valve settings. Note it is stamped with "70" displacement.

I'm sure it runs smooth however how big a prop will it turn with authority? The only reason to run a bigger engine is to turn a bigger prop. Torque comes with stroke and sense the stroke has not been changed I am wondering how big a prop it will spin?

And I am guessing it weighs around 13 oz.

Hey that's a mix of cut judges and spectators for the WWII combat.

Tom Skinner (cut judge) has the dark shirt and yellow hat.
I'm wearing the olive shirt and white hat talking to Tom, sharing cut judge duties.

Paul (don't remember last name) is seated and also cut judging.

Don't know the names of the 2 spectators on the left of the picture.

This was my first Brodaks and I had a great time!!!

The gentleman seated is Dennis Moritz. The gentleman to the far left is Tom Skinners dad, sorry I forget his name.

In theory, it should turn an 11.89/6 at the same RPM as a one-cylinder Fox.

The WW-II combat guys know how to have fun. Paul Smith and Howard Shenton finished the last match in a downpour! They got wet, but got the trophies for "Most Memorable Match".

Congrats to both for continuing on. May have to get in shape as I used to love combat when it was in a decent speed range for someone who didn't get much practice. WW-II sounds like the ticket. Any changes or improvements going to be made. I was thinking that the war bird series would have made for a great event. Slow enough that anyone shoiuld be able to handle them and be a real crowd pleaser. Glad you guys had fun, DOC Holliday

Louis must be in disguise, I guess, with the baseball cap and sunglasses. Usually he has a straw hat.
