Brodaks OJT for Judges
« on: April 12, 2010, 07:00:18 PM »
Brodaks this year will include a new feature, OJT (On the Job Training) for new judges.  So if you've never judged before, we hook you up with an experienced hand.  You sit with him while he scores a number of flights and explains the process.   Then  pick up a clipboard and score some flights yourself, exchanging commentary with the mentor as you go.  Nonbinding of course.  The secret is that judging is an integral part of becoming a better flyer, and you might just learn some things you can use.  If you think it might be worth a try, please PM either of us.  Welcome Aboard!  Allen Brickhaus and Tom Hampshire, CD's

I strongly urge anyone that has an interest in judging to take Tom and Allen up on the offer.
Judging will improve your flying for sure.....
Plus you are helping to make contests more enjoyable for everyone.
Have fun!

Good morning Boys and Girls,

I think this is a great idea and a wonderful opportunity for those interested in judging. I know all of us who judge would welcome the chance to train our replacements. ;D  We're gettin' old (darn it).  I do have some thoughts.

First:  Read and STUDY the rules CLA-2 through CLA-9.  INGORE the "Judges Guide".  If you have those eight pages "down cold" I would love to have you judge my next flight regardless of experience. I have spoken with a lot of judges/cd/contestants who would like to see the "Judges Guide" just eliminated from the rule book but that is another discussion.

I believe I can speak for most of us that will be judging at Brodaks this year.  We welcome you and want to help but if you don't know what we are talking abut then it is a waste of your time and certainly a waste of ours.  >:D  Just "John being John"  Love you all.

Later,  John

We have four hostag...er...candidates so far.  One additional thought:  If anybody knows of a potential candidate, take it up with him and see if we can't get more guys on board.  A larger pool can only improve quality.  Tom Hampshire
