Brodak Vector 40 coming along...
« on: September 04, 2006, 06:57:46 AM »
Hey guys,

I've been pretty well flat out on my Vector 40 these past few days.  Man this colour scheme is a tough one and the Brodak instructions and one picture on the box don't offer too much info with regards to how it's done. So anyway, I have done my best and am nearly there...  Has anyone else done this color scheme or know anything about it?  I like it, which is one of the reasons I decided to build this kit.

Regards,
Warren

Hi Wynn,

I have seen your pictures on SSHobbies and elsewhere. One of the reasons I got the Vector was for it's looks and yours look great!  I decided to go with the orginal colour scheme because it looks like no-one else has done it or at least I havent seen it anywhere and it looked like a good challenge for me. I'm not sure it that's Randy Smith's original colour scheme or one that Brodak made up? (anyone know?)

While I've got you, have you got any pictures showing it's wheel pants in better detail?  I'm not too happy with the original ones and am thinking of getting some after market ones.

Cheers

Warren,  Hate to burst your bubble but ALL the ARF vectors have the exact same colour scheme......which is a bummer....

I use Cardinal wheelpants on my vectors...they look a lot more sleek an d suit the plane a bit more I feel..... Ihave some available if you would like some....they are fibreglass so pretty light.

I have a side on pic of the pants somewhere.......just before I painted them....see below

Hi Wynn,

Oh well - good thing I did a slightly different pattern on the underside then eh. :-)

Yes I am _very_ interested in your Cardinal Pants. They look very trick. Can you message me privately?

Seeing the pics makes me want to get tjhe basement cleaned out so I can start on my Vector 40 ARC.  I plan on putting the RO-Jett 40 BSRE engine in it.  According to Bob Brookins it should be a potent combination.   Hope mine looks as good as yours.  DOC Holliday

Hi Guys

Here's the first full view shot of the Vector with the 1/2A Pathfinder as requested by Roger.

I just have to fit the engine and fuel tank now...

Wynn, what do you use to finish your models paint or monokote or both?

Cheers

I cover mine in SIG Aerokote....a lot easier then monocote and doesnt stink like paint....seeing as I build in a spare bedroom. I am not allowed to paint......mama camel is not too happy with the smells.......

Hey Guys

I finally got to fly my Vector 40.  Oh what a beauty!  Flies much better than I expected with near perfect trim in the first flight!  Here's some pics...

The Vector 40 Brodak kit can really get you into the groove.   Mine was finished last winter and has a LA-S 46.  It's a great flier  and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have been enjoying mine.
