Title: Brodak Super Fill?
Post by: Paul Taylor on July 22, 2022, 08:05:41 PM
Is the super fill the same stuff that Randy use to sell? - The Areo-epoxy lite?

Bob is 100% right (of course) but if you want a tip that will make your life a little easier...

Not sure if this is news to anyone, I figured this out long ago and assumed others did the same, and surprised many don't know about it. Get a little monoject 412 syringe to apply your super fill. Cut the tip at an angle, just like you would a caulking tube. Mix your super fill and trowel it into the back of the syringe with a popsicle stick or whatever is handy. The fillets lay in so nice, if you have a steady hand, you hardly have to do anything to them, straight out of the syringe... I usually let the start to set, then give them a swipe with a fingertip dipped in alcohol. Done. This way you lay in the fillets in 1/4th the time, less mess, less clean up, less stress, and more working time will the material is still the same initially mixed viscosity.

Also, I've re-used the same syringe several times due to the nature of the plastic and epoxy. Just resist the urge to clean it and let it kick in the syringe overnight. Next day you can then pull the plunger and it comes out in a clean plug that you can pop off of the black rubber plunger and save the syringe for use another day.

Hope that helps some of you!

I like the syringe idea. I recently purchased a set of fillet tools. from leemachineshop.com. to replace my unsteady and unskilled finger.

Brother Eric and Brother Bob has me wondering how can combine the syringe and fillet tool for a one swipe operation.

Wow! Great idea Brother Eric! Never thought of that. I buy those syringes in a case of 50 at a time and use them for a bunch of applications; now I have another one to try!

Thanks!

(We are overdue for our monthly call - actually is is a few months now... Talk with you soon)

Brother Bob

They do work great, but be cautious,  the added pressure of squeezing out of the syringe causes the mixture to kick off sooner. I generally have to do a full size plane, in two smaller batches.

I use a one ounce syringe that is for injecting spices into meats. I get them from the grocery store. I also drill out the Luer Lock end and install a .250 x 1.000 brass tube so the Super Fil is easy to squeeze out. It's good for many uses after cleaning. Compression hasn't been an issue.

Mine gets stored in the refrigerator, just like my CA.  Lasts longer.
