Title: Brodak Sea hurricane power question

A friend has given me a Brodak Sea Hurricane kit; the plans show a Fox 35.  I don't have a Fox--gave mine away after too many flame outs.

Would a Brodak 25 be enough power?  Would A Brodak 40 be too much?  What other engine would be better?  I already have the B 25 and B 40.

Just my opinion, Jim, but since you have the B.40, it's always easier to extract less than maximum power from an engine than it is to get extra power if needed. While I understand that the B.25 is a very good engine, I'd still vote for the .40 -

I totally agree with Ralph. I have the B-40 on my Hurricane and with the APC 10-5 it's perfect.

Go with the Brodak 40.  I flew the prototype Zero with an OS 35S (but it was plans built with really light wood!), and Mike Garmon (the designer/"tester" along with John Tate and Willis Swindell) used a lot of engines on his/their prototypes.  Mike mainly used the K&B (Brodak) 40.  His P-51B original Warbird is still around and has the K&B/Brodak 40 on it.

I happen to have a B40 without a home at present, so that makes it easy.
