Brodak Rock Crusher Handle

Anybody using the new Brodak "Rock Crusher" hard point handle. If so, what's your opinion?

I have a couple and like them.. Some feel the weight is an issue but I don't notice any difference between it and a wood hard point when I'm flying.

I have one. It fits my hand well. It is a little heavy, so it takes some getting used to.

The 4 stroke man has one. That means I gots to look into it. The issue of weight is irrelevant with the Saito 72. With the big block,you won't notice the weight-trust me.

I like mine alot, the weight is just a little more than may AMA watch on my other hand, it keeps me balanced. The plane still wants to pull it out of my hand and the plane is all most all the time above my hand so I can not tell what the weight of any handle is.

I've got one and I think it's great. I am not a good flyer by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't figure out why the weight of the handle should make much of a difference. This handle is very well made and feels more solid than any other handle I have used. The hard point feature sure makes a difference in the feel.

Unless you are flying a 1/2A, I don't see why the weight would matter. If you are using a Saito 62\72 you won't feel the handle, that's for sure.

I have had one for a couple of years and it is fine on planes that have a good pull.

Sorry.....but I have to believe that weight matters....

Paul Walker uses handles that he crafts himself of carbon fiber....because of the weight advantage...and he knows a thing or two about flying...

That said, the Brodak handle is pretty nice...has a BUNCH of adjustability and comes all finished and ready to use.....

When the line tension goes away due to wind or power problems, whatever, and landings...THAT'S when the weight matters most.  Steve

What are the differences between a "Ted Handle" and a "Rock Crusher"?

The TED Handle is (ergonomically) a copy of a Hot Rock, and being a kit, you make it fit your hand. There is a larger sized version for people with big mitts, but again, being a kit, you make it fit.

My (smaller sized) TED handles, with epoxy finish, safety thong and "rod wrap" grip tape, weigh 60 grams each. Can somebody weigh their big/little "Rock Crushers" and report back?   Steve

I was told the Rock Crusher was a copy of the Hot Rock, hence the name.

Got the scale out. Brodak R.C. 4.14 oz, Kaz wire 3.2 oz. Morris 3.32oz wire, hanger 9 1.97oz, EZ Just 1.72oz. Samantha fly's a kaz handle I fly the Brodak, I need to find her a lot lighter handle, if a oz or two is that big a deal with landings. I know I'm over 5 times stronger than her. There was no one that out landed her in begginer classes and not a lot in much higher classes. Think how good she would be!

I've got 10 of um but severly modified with balsa handle replacement and tennis grip/thong weigh 2.5 ozs with 4 screws locking the slide run all the way in /elongated slots.super light and comfortable.....Jimmy

Totally agreed. The feeling of the lines as tension varies, is muffled by a heavy handle. I guess is a matter of getting used to it and having all the handles be the same. I have a plethora of Fast and Slow combat handles that I have used that were commercially available at the time along with F2D handles. Made my own and found them better. reason being that they were carved to a minimum and fitted to my cupped hand. Now I have tried the Brodack's plastic "Hot Rock" and found it heavy. I like it but will use it on hard pulling fast ships.
I have tried the REYCO hard point by the same people (Brodack). I LOVE IT!!! Light, sensitive and responsive as you wish. The number is SKU# RE-428 HP.
