Hi Walt,

If you are actually getting 20* and 30* then I would say that hole is the one to use.  You may never use the full throws, but then in panic mode it would be there......

What engine do you have on the Tanager?

Your wrist movement and the handle spacing  to me decides how much bell crank movement you get when flying a CL plane.   I too try to get as much bell crank movement as I can.   That means that some times the middle hole is too far from the pivot point.  I had a Dolphin that the flaps/elevators were max 25 degrees and was too quick for me.   Balance has a lot to do with it also.

How long is the flap horn? That determines where you attach the BC/flap pushrod (top hole). The BC attachment point should be shorter than the top hole on the flap horn, never longer.  H^^ Steve

Use a wider handle spacing! Sounds good to me, 'cause the wider the handle spacing, in theory, your precision improves.  If you are using a "TED handle", you can reverse the stainless steel legs to widen the spacing.  #^ Steve
