Suggestions for .09-.15 airplanes.
« on: June 14, 2023, 10:25:24 AM »
     Hello all:
I am wanting to use my collection of smaller engines and built airplanes.  These will be powered by Diesel engines in the .09-.15 size range and include Shark 15, Ringmaster Jr.,  Acromaster, Sterling P-40 and. Few others that were scratch built.

I tried RM Jr. with a MVVS .09 Diesel  but it failed to have enough power to become airborne.

      Suggestions/Comments

I know nearly nothing about diesels aside from they are wimpy and smell bad, but if it couldn't get the airplane airborne, it probably wasn't running correctly. You could fly a Ringmaster Jr level with a PeeWee .020, even an 09 diesel should be better than that.

Well, howdy!  Frank, I would have to ask "Are you scratch building or wanting kits?  Personally, I do a fair amount of scratch building and I really get great enjoyment this way.  As such, I am so thankful for OuterZone.  I found these plans interesting as I'd never heard of them so I printed off the plans and headed for my balsa bin.  I ended up with a couple of really neat little planes that have been a ball to fly.  Actually, I've built a bunch more than these but building is what keeps me out of trouble with the wife  LL~ LL~!!  Best of luck to ya!

Well, there's always the Flying Clown qand Circus Prince, Brodak Cub (.15-size Bear), and if you really must stick with a diesel, try a .15-size Peacemaker.

Don't forget about the Jr. Flitestreak and SIG Goodyear racers (Shoestring & Buster).

Problem is, those are all at least as big as a Ringmaster Jr. and if the engine won't even get it off the ground, it won't fly the others, either.

I'm not familiar with that engine but something has to be wrong for an .09 diesel not to fly that plane. A little Akromaster goes vey well with a MK-17 .09 diesel. Here is a video:

Heresome Diesel Goodyear from some time back . The Pits !

The Ideas to get 3.5 a lap ( 35 Seconds for Ten , ) outerit . My astounding Miss Dara up Front . Not entirely astounding .
Apparenytly the ' Cut Off ' is best hooked up to the bell crank . When the pushrod fell of there and started flapping about
the  pilot was hitting the down line . All that was lacking was steamers . Quite aerobatic , in the trainer sense , used as that .

They need a bit of fuse reiforcing as catching they skew & the back falls off , cracks , looks marred & untidy . Super Polish Concours is the GO .
20% Nitro in say a OS 20 should see a Ton , no worries .  MVVS D7'd nibble at it , std, if WELL RUN IN . which may be your problem .Lettem Howl . underprop .
