Uh, why would a company put an item in their catalog and then in the product details page put the comment "Not For Sale" I refer to the SV-11 ARC. Eager customers visiting the site go to the model plainly advertised on Brodaks opening home page just to find that the SV-11 ARC is not for sale.
-
I believe that they are "out of stock"....and are awaiting a decision from the Pcocwers That Be that decide this stuff as to their eligibility as far as the BOM is concerned...
"Not for Sale" is a bad phrase.

They are not allowed under the current BOM (as recently modified). That should make no difference to the sales since that doesn't apply to anyone who is a likely potential customer.

It is a very strange statement. I sort of figured that they have no stock. But then they should mark it as back order, temporarily out of stock, something like that. Must have been popular as the other ARC's are available.
-
Could it be that maybe a problem with the kits was discovered and they put a hold on them until a fix and/or parts became available?
-
In the past month, I've placed two orders to Brodak. I can't believe how quickly they get stuff to my front door! They must read my mind before I place an order! They are in PA, and I'm in OR. Clear across the country!

I think that their supplier shut down and that there will be no more until John gets a new manufacturer. At least that is the rumor. I guess that the SV11 has been a real hot seller and if you want one then it's the ARF and a strip job. Not a big deal really.
-
ARCs can fly in Open and qualify for appearance points judging. What is Brett talking about? I believe at least one T-Rex ARC bash was a top 20 plane last year. The Brodak ARCs and ARFs are looking better and better. In a dumb move I put an ARF Vector 40 into the ground at the Fly-in, a near 90 degree plunge from the top of the opening wing over. Dumb move because I didn't ease my way into this comparatively sensitive responding birdie. Looking at the two part wing, smashed cowl, and perhaps compromised motor mounts, I sprung for a new barking dog. The old one was good, quite a value, very light and flyable. The new one was improved in many ways. Notched hinge pockets, pin hinges, better looking covering job, improved flap and elevator horns, as well as ball links and carbon rods. Indicative of John's (and in this case, I'm sure, Randy Smith's) looking out for quality and improvement.
-
Has anybody taken time to call the man hisself(John Brodak) and ask him about this? I don't think BOM has anything to do with it. As long as you fly PAMPA classes you have no problem other than appearance points. VD~

What PAMPA classes Doc? OTS and Classic?
Skill classes are official AMA classes for over a decade.

It may be the "Harley Davidson" effect...............that's where you wait six months on a list after paying your $$$$$$ LL~

I just tried calling Brodak but the line was busy. But I think Dennis Lipsett is correct----the supply line is currently broken. The Brodak .40 engine is in the same category I believe.

No doubt while supply and demand is tweeked. :##

John Brodak announced a few months ago that his supplier of ARFs/ARCs suddenly went out of business. No doubt he is working on finding other manufacturing options. Probably the SV11 ARCs sold out. It's not deep. Folks I met who purchased the ARF or ARC SV11s or constructed the kit (working from the flat pieces of wood in a box) have been pleased. In many ways the recent Brodak ARFs have improved on the past. Too bad the evolution has been interrupted. Not to say that the ARFs and ARCs are perfect or comparable to careful kit builds. They are not. Not up to the quality of finish and overall craftsmanship. But they are competitive fliers, competitive even at the NATs in Open, if this and that are fixed and bird is trimmed well. I know of at least one top 20 flier last year who started out with a Brodak ARC. Looking closer at my new Vector 40 ARF during assembly, I note the usual covering bubbles, slight miss-alignments, poor fit of the fiberglass cowl, flaps that are of too light a wood, and so forth. Fixable and usable. Conceivably I could be in the air with this plane by the weekend. Should be in the air with this plane by the weekend. A definite bargain in terms of time and cost.
The situation with the Brodak 40 is different. The manufacturer is restricted in output for many reasons.

So, does this signal a slight adjustment in prices ??? LL~

Man. What do you want. You guys and your digs. The stuff is cheap. Strikes me as too cheap. The guy has practically resurrected CL which I assume we all enjoy. His company alone probably makes and supplies as much control line stuff as existed in to-to during the Golden Age of STERLING, CG and the rest. He hosts (HOSTS! in his backyard!) a huge contest/fly-in/fun-fest of Control Line. The graciousness of Buzz and John at this affair is without question. Of course the dispeptic, insane (and inane) and chronically quarrelsome will take issue.

I went to the web-site, it indicates that the "Red" version is not for sale, maybe there is another color available? I guess one could get a kit from Randy Smith of one of his designs. :!

The OP was talking about the ARC version.
-
So just get the ARF, which is apparently in stock, and toss the covering. Seems like hardly an issue for so little difference in price.
-
I placed a order for SV11 ARF Monday morning , got it today, that's service

Ohhhhh.....maybe a laugh or too. I'm trying to live out my old age on the lighter side! That's why I use so many smilies.....to indicate my mood! ;D

Hacking a ARF, is just giving up too much control over the process, and more work to boot. I was willing to compromise, construction control to assembling an ARC, but as that is unavailable, I have decided just to go and build the RSM Pathfinder Kit. Now watch as I decided to go this route, The Pathfinder kits Will be out of stock. I already put in a inquiry to stunt supply to see if they have the kit.
-
Gee! During the big contest, I walked into Brodak's
Carmicheal's store and just bought an SV-11 ARF.
No problem.
I even had a choice of colors.
Then, Two days later, a friend walked into the very
same store and bought an SV-11 ARF too!
Amazing!
I wanted the ARC.. But I figure I can eat a lousy ten bucks
to get a great bargain.

Personally I much rather build my own. I was only considering a SV-11 ARC, because doing a full kit build is going to br a challange working off of the kitchen area floor. Any way, has anyone here Actually built the RSM Pathfinder kit? Someone who can directly comment on the quality and cintents of the hardware included? You know controls, etc, what I've seen so far looks like it belongs in a profile P4/ kit and not for a 60 inch 64 oz plus $189.00 stunter kit.
-
Well. I like to laugh too. (John Stiles). I'll accept that laugh.

How do I answer this? I went back an reread my post. I remember John showing me at the NATS his ARF Oriental. I think it was the first of the ARF/ARC kits he started. Yes I have bad mouthed him at times, even face to face. But, him and a few others have helped get control line stunt growing. VD~
