Is sig thinner compatable with brodak dope?
Brodak dope dries faster than SIG. From what I understand, this is mostly due to the thinner used. For that reason, you can apply SIG over Brodak but not the other way around...UNLESS you let the SIG dry well and gas-off.
The problem with Brodak immediately over SIG is that the Brodak will dry while the SIG is still gassing-off and the gas will lift the dried Brodak off.
You could probably do it if you let the mixture completely dry before switching to another paint.
Some guys on here really know their stuff and can mix appropriate Dupont (and other) thinners in with a desired result. I'm not one of those guys so I stick with a brand throughout the finishing process.
I clean my equipment (usually brushes) with cheap lacquer thinner. Still, I do a final rinse in the thinner used with the dope brand. Is this the best way? Don't know, but it works.
I think, as others have mentioned, unless you REALLY know what you are doing...stick with one brand.
