Looking for club Elgin Ill.
« on: June 10, 2007, 01:51:27 PM »
I'm looking for a C/L club or site to fly at while visiting Elgin Illinois.
I'll be visting an old high school buddy that I used to fly with in the 50s while in high school in Chicago. Like to bring a plane and get myself and old buddy in the air again. He hasn't flown since HS days. Good chance to teach him a thing or two like he did me in the old days. May get the old buddy interested in C/L again.

There is a great C/L flying field located in Schaumburg, Il. just East of Elgin off of the NW Toll Road. It is located in Busse Woods, which is a County Forest Preserve. Depending on where you are in Elgin you may want to take either the Tollway or just come East on Golf Rd. Once you pass under Rt 53 the entrance to the park will be the first traffic light. Take a left at that light and take that road approximately 1/4 block and then turn left first oppotrtunity to the end. The control line field is located there. This is the home of the Chicagoland Circle Cutters and they welcome all old control liners as well as anyone who would like to learn more about control line and the fun you can have. You did not mention when you would be in but there is always a good turn out of members and visitors on weekends. There are three circles to choose from. Hope to see you there soon.

Thanks Denis. I'll be in the area in the middle of July barring any changes in plans.
