Brodak aluminum spinners- Primary Force
« on: January 07, 2019, 12:33:32 PM »
I’m needing a spinner for my new Primary Force. It shows a fairly long pointy one on the plans. I forget what size but I think it’s 1 3/4”. I was looking on Brodak site and saw they carried quite a few aluminum spinners several of which appear to be what I’m looking for. The problem is they give zero info on them other than price and size. I would be assuming since the picture shows a long pointy style, that’s what I would get but pictures on websites sometimes can be misleading. There is no info on whether any type of adapter nut is needed. I would guess looking at the pics that they would require one.

So, anybody buy the Brodak aluminum spinners and can enlighten me? Anyone know offhand what size my Primary Force calls for? I was going to place an order this morning but wasn’t positive about the size. Also didn’t want to order the spinner and then find out I also needed an adapter.

Thanks, Matt

I'll look tonight but I believe it is 1 3/4".  What engine are you running?

.25LA per Mikey’s recommendation. It’s all framed up with the exception of the nose finishing which is why I need the spinner. Waiting on Sig to get some orange dope too! I was just getting ready to find my plans and see what size it calls for.

I checked the plans and it is a 1 3/4" spinner.  Pretty sure the 25 la is the same 1/4' shaft as the 46.  Brodak spinners come with a1/4" hole so you don't need an adapter but you will need the correct prop nut.  I would just call Brodak, tell them you need a 1 3/4" pointy spinner for a 2 blade prop and 1/4" crankshaft, they'll get you fixed up.  An excellent alternative would be Randy Smith, he can also get you fixed up.

I was actually ordering tanks for a couple other planes and was trying to pack the order with stuff I knew I’d need down the road. The spinner was the first thing I thought of.

You want the BH-949 spinner but I don't see the adapter I think you need.  Unlike a Tru-Turn, I think the Brodak spinner is held on by a 1/4"x28 shaft (same as your engine).  You need a long nut threaded 1/4x28 all the way through.  It has been quite a while since I ordered one, it may even be included with the spinner, that is why I suggest calling them.

Wrong! They come with a prop washer and  nut.

So...uh...you can't look at the plans and/or measure the nose of the airplane?  ???

The Brodak spinners do have a bit longer "point" than most, pretty close to what most call a needle nose spinner. Here's a couple of them on my .15 and .40 size "Challenger" models...

I was at work, plans were at home. I was wanting to place the order before I got home.

Hi Matt,
The P-Force uses a 1-3/4” NN  spinner, I used the one from Aero Products.  I’m sure the Brodak, Veco, Dave Brown and other will work just fine.  The thread size on the OS .25. LA is 1/4” X 28 threads.

Joe,
What engine and prop are you running on the P-Force ARF?  Hard to tell from the photo.

Later,
Mikey

Is that the arf?
What engine, prop and tank do you have there?

Thanks, Matt

Hi Mike,  It has an Evolution .36 and a Tornado 10x6 3-blade repitched to a 10x4.

I zoomed in a little..

Hi Matt, Yes it is the Arf version.   The engine and prop is as mentioned above with a 4oz Hayes clunk tank.  It also works not too bad with the Apc 11x4.
