We have been in negotiations with the Holiday Inn located in Uniontown, PA regarding the 2010 Fly-in. Here are the results and reasons for these negotiations.
Reasons: We felt the Fly-In needed a home base for people to relax and get together after the days activities. Accommodations in Charmichaels are non existant and Waynesburg is limited. Morgantown is a little further than most people want to drive daily.
The Holiday is both reasonably close and very easy to locate. 15.2 miles from the parking lot to John's back yard. From Highway 21 it is one turn left and one turn right
Features: A covered court yard larger than the open one at the Ramada at the VSC. This particular Holiday has many amenities but the court yard was the main motivation.
We negotiated with the sales and marketing department of Holiday. This years standard rate for a single room double occupancy was 109.00. These rooms feature WI-FI and an "office" area with desk and ample electric connections for all you computer and printer guys and gals.
Holiday Inn has agreed to host the 2010 Brodak Fly-In for a rate of 75.00 per night for these same rooms.
There are many more amenties at the Holiday and conveniences in Uniontown which will be listed in detail on the Brodak web site. There will also be a direct link from the Brodak site to the Holiday Inn so that one may book directly from the Brodak site. Please allow the Brodak people to catch their breath from the work they put in the past month before you get too "testy".
One of the main negotiation "hills to climb" at this reduced rate was; would Holiday's standard policy regarding reservations and cancellations apply? The answer was yes. So--------one may make reservations tomorrow and if you can't attend for what ever reason, all you have to do is contact Holiday in advance of your arrival date and cancel. NO CHARGE. Point is: There is a block of 60 rooms at the Holiday. Magic Words "Brodak Fly-In". and I know for a fact that 7 of these 60 are all ready gone.
I loved it this year and hope to see all of you next year. I will be in 108 at the Holiday.
P.S. Would one of you kind folks cut and paste this information to other appropriate sites? I very rarely post any where. Later, John
