Brodak 40 measurements
« on: February 25, 2007, 06:29:19 AM »
I'm waiting for a Brodak 40 to arrive for my Cardinal, so work has been temporarily halted on the fuselage.

Does anyone have the dimensions of Brodak 40?  I know it's supposed to be the same footprint as an OS FP40/LA40 but do the holes line up? And what's the length from front to rear, it looks shorter which means you would NOT be able to swap between OS and Brodak engines.

You would think Brodak would have this kind of info on the website?

Cheers

Hi Warren: Here goes, from the spinner back plate to the end of the back plate screws is 2 11/16 ". Engine width for motor mounts 1 1/4", depth from motor mounts down to back plate bottum screw 13/16".engine mounts are side to side 1 9/16" front to back 11/16" center to center. Hope these are accurate enough.

Thanks Leester

So The B40 is about 1/4" shorter than the LA40/46 - everything else is about the same.

It is a drop in replacement for the MAX 35S, if you have a 35s you can use it to locate your holes and spinner. The only difference is the needle valve location is a tad off.

Hi Bob

No I don't have a MAX 35S. I'll just have to wait. Shouldn't be too long now...

John Brodak sent me a pic of the engine in actual size, so I've decided the world needs to know the definitive answer.    n~

A = 40.5mm (1 5/8")
B = 17.5mm (11/16")
C = 69.5mm (2 3/4")
D = 48.6mm (1 15/16")
E = 85.3mm (3 3/8")
F = 47mm (1 7/8")
G = 31mm (1 1/4")
H = 38.2mm (1 1/2")
J = 65.55mm (2 9/16")
