Tail heavy, but it wasn't when I started flying

Be sure to wipe the plane down after each flight. Get all the oil off it. Two reasons. First, the oil has weight and it flows aft towards the tail. If the plane is marginal in the CG, this will shift it during the day to the rear, and this can be a disaster.
Second, assuming the plane lasts all season, the oil will creep into the darnedest places and cause glue joints, to become loose, wood to swell and gain unwanted weight, hinges to pull out.   D>K

Hi Ty,

It is simply amazing how oil can get into the wood regadless of almost any attempts to stop it!  A plane can easily gain a few oz. over it's life span, and it really seems to be on the ones that are covered with films.  I really, really make an effort to seal up the plane but that stuff still seems to get in there after a few years!
