Half-Fast at Jacksonville

Thought you might like this very,very,very old picture at Whitehall NAS Jacksonville Fl. The half-fast won second and I got third flying a Nobody against planes that were 20 mph faster than we were. Who is the guy launching? Most of the flyers were from Texas. The reining world champ was at this meet ~^

 LL~ I remember how funny  (and often  AT TIMES it waaaay to much information) when those old AeroModeler magazines photos would show just how little gard many foreign modelers were wearing....uhhh? However thinking back....even sports figures in this country in those early 50's through late 70's would also wear pretty skimpy uniforms?  Basketball Tennis player such a Jimmy Conners and Andre' Aggassi were just a few examples of "how high'zzzz the wata??? short shorts.
This photo when ya think about it...Steve seems quite  "tame" in comparison. %^

I believe it was right around 100 degrees and the humidity 90% that day. Most guys didn't even have on a shirt. It was a fast combat and vintage combat meet. Since there was only two vintage models we flew in the fast combat. I crashed two times but was able to get back in the air very fast because the NoBody was almost indestructible :X. Also it would out turn the fast jobs. There were a couple of Russians ~^ combat flyer's at this meet also who were going to the Embry flight school.

The only guys I know from Texas are the Stubblefields.

My guess on the ID of the launcher is Paul Curtis.  If that's current photo, he hasn't aged much in 35 years.

I think the picture is 1979-82. Speaking of warm weather it was so nice here today east of Charlotte Rebecca and I had the top down on the Mustang.

I have a few pleasent memories of flying  theHalf Fast. Green head 35's were real good in them.
