Brodak 15 flight
« on: February 19, 2010, 05:29:43 PM »
The only plane I could find to try the B-15 on was my Bill Netzeband Scared Kitten.
I removed a vintage K&B slant plug 29 and installed the B-15 and a 1.5 ounce tank.
Dry weight just under 24 ounces.
With a 8-6 Master Airscrew and .012 x 54 foot lines, the plane flew perfectly. I set it just a tiny bit rich and was able to do the entire ama pattern on the first flight.

I will enter it in Old Time Stunt at the next contest I attend.

Sounds great Bob.  Was the 15 with a muffler about the same weight as the Klunk & Bang?

Hi, Dennis - the K&B weighs 6.9 ounces, the B-15 with muffler weighs 5.6. Notice that I moved it forward around 5/8 inch to compensate.
It also used around half the fuel that the K&B used - Brodak 10/23.

I'm really impressed with this little engine.

A small stunt ship is in the planning stage.

I always figured that the smaller Cardinals should be the Bishop, Priest, Nun and of course, the 1/2A alter boy.
Maybe a 75-powered version with the obvious ultimate name.

A Cardinette 15 would appear to a top candidate.

LL~ LL~  Well being based on Windy's Cardinal, I would have to say it's for the *boirds*. ;D

Bobby, just knock out a *Cardinal* in 15 size and go for it!

Or, a SV based 15 size stunter.... ya listenin' Randy?

Hey, Little Bill - there's no "r" in boids!!  LL~ LL~

Regarding basing it on the Cardinette - I was thinking something more "classic".
If I could find the plans for Jack Sheeks "Knight", that might be a good candidate - very unique looking.
Anyone have them?

Try the AMA plans section.  I am waiting to see what you come up with for the B-15.  When weather breaks will hopefully be getting the Cardinette out.

I just talked to Jack and he said the plans are still available from Flying Models.

I think he would enjoy seeing it fly at Brodak's.

The one flight I got on it was great.  That was about the time my hip started acting up.  Now up to 8 different pils a day to keep going.  Seems I had an infection in the hip joint.
