Title: Brodak "Little Toot" prototype
Post by: wwwarbird on June 15, 2006, 07:42:14 PM
What you see here is a prototype for the Brodak laser cut "Little Toot" that Sam Laughery graciously sent me to build as a test for the upcoming release.
One real nice update is the laser cut ply outer wing struts that replace the original dowel/ply assembly.
I'll let Sam step in here with more details if necessary.

Thanks Sam!

Very nice job Wayne.  Thanks for your efforts.  As Wayne said the only change from the original Goldberg kit is the one piece wing struts.  All parts are laser cut.  It has the original Goldberg plans and decals.

The Lil Jumping Bean is next.

Thanks again for your help. j1 j1 y1 y1 #^ #^ f~

I'm going to be the Grinch, I'm delighted to see the Old Goldberg 1/2A planes back. But to realize anything at all making them the cost is high. Granted in todays money it isn't but somehow I can't buy one for 25X's more them I bought my first one.

Dennis,

I sure would be interested in your calculations.  Dates and $ comparisons.  25X's is a pretty big jump no matter how long it has been.

Dennis,

From what I hear, the pricing new Goldberg re-releases will be quite fair by todays standards. 25 years ago who'da thunk we'd EVER see such thing as a laser cut 1/2A Goldberg kit, or any kit for that matter.
Obviously these will be just a fun way for many to re-live their youth, I'm one of them, and for some younger flyers to have some kits that will go together much easier than "ours" did.
For anyone interested, look me up this weekend at Sig, I'll have the "Toot" with me. ;D

Actually I think that I was fairly explicit about the cost being reasonable in todays market. I paid $1.00 for my first one, so I'm guilty of using a retorical figure on the price increase, but you should be able to assume that costs in over 35 years are up that much.
The plans are available for the planes and can be built for a pittance.
This is not in any way to be construed as a slam against Brodaks for introducing them and charging what is a reasonable price in todays monitary valiue.
Lighten up guys, don't read things into the post that aren't there.

Nothing intended Dennis.  I was really interested in when and how much you had paid for the original.  Looks like your 25X's is just about right.  We put on a lot more paint now than we did then also.  I know I could only afford a couple of coats.  That increases the relative cost even more.
