I understand that some are Bill Werwage designs and some are Pat Johnston designs. Very cool.

The work that you guys are doing is fantastic.  You really should be proud.  This looks to me like more than just great building.  I think we are seeing the beginnings of Brazil\South America really coming to prominence on the F2B world stage.  For many years, the United States,Russia, China and Europe have dominated the F2B world scene with great flyers and top technology. It looks to me like Brazil is about to take center stage right along side the them.

This move to master the powerful yet simple 4 stroke technology in conjunction with some really world class building is to me, signaling the beginnings of a new era in South American model aviation.

I think we are going to see a South American Nats\World championship not to long from now.

Just how many is a Brazilian T-bolts?  Sorry...it's that blonde joke, coming back to haunt me. Loved it. I'd also love to see pics of one of the Pat Johnston designed P-47's. I'll bet it's a great flier, too.  y1 Steve

Please Steve, use a common sense:
1 - Brazilian TBolts its the Scuadron "Senta a Pua".

In 2ªWW, the Scuadron planes was the P-47 D bubble.

The sponsor, Mr. Thomas Case, ask:

"....I don't know how many P47s there will be next year. The rules will be as follows:
a - The P47 model must be of the Bill Werwage designe or of the Pat Johnston designe. Engine can be either 2 or 4 stroke with or without pipe but should be a .60 or larger. The plane must be finished in the same scheme as the Brazilian P47s in World War II with the "Senta a Pua" emblem and the colored used by the squadron. Preferably the model should be of the bubble canopy and not the razorback as Brazil only had one razorback.
b - All planes must pass inspection for workmanship.
c - We will have a contest in May 2007 in Sao Pauloo where every one must be able to fly the pattern. Those that fly the pattern with their P47 will be elegible.
d - Each person must have a valid USA visa. This year we lost three contestants because they could not get the visa...."

It's OK?
Thanks.

Elizio,

The Saito 72 was thought not to be able to work in such a lightly loaded plane like the Werewage Thunderbolt. Yet, your group is doing very well with this combination. Could you tell us whether or not, you had to make any significant changes to accommodate the 72.  And how does the planes perform?  Has your group become aware of the new Saito 62 and do you have any plans for this new motor.

In addition, has Carlos Barribino's work with his P47 and the 72 influenced any of the other fliers in your area.  I am aware that he did very well with this combination also.

 Hello Milton:
in my P-47 (Bill plans), I put my Saito 72 in the same place of the plan, I only need to change the second former because i use a C/L carburater ad the venturi is between this former.  I use in my engine a 14x6 Bolly I need to put some washes behind the prop to put the prop a litle front of. I dind´t need any weight to balance the model, it´s good with 72. The members of group will be use different engines(PA 65,PA 75,ST 60,OS 70 Ultimate). Barrabino is a big friend. I didn´t see this new Saito 62.
Specifications of models in the pictures:
Osni (Bill) - 1.900 g - engine PA 51 - change to PA 65 in short time.
Joarez (Pat) - 1.750 g - engine Saito 72 - it's possible to change OS 70 Ultimate
Elizio (Bill) - 1.900 g - engine Saito 72
Best Regards

Hi

As I see it, what prevents us from being a world class CL power (the same for other aeromodelling disciplines) is the small number of active modelers we have here in Brazil. When you can pick from two or three thousand active pilots, finding 3 or 4 or 10 world class pilots is a lot easier than from seventy or eighty. Concerning individual skills, I think we are at par with anyone, anywhere. Of course, we may take into consideration such things as little encouragement in our society, lack of technical-mechanical tradition, little publicizing, few opportunities for consistent improvement and so on, but I think the preponderant factor is the first one (although it surely is a consequence of all the other ones listed).

Regards
