Title: Brazilian Kits
Post by: Martin Quartim on February 24, 2015, 09:14:17 AM
This is the most traditional Hobby Store in Brazil and they make and sell some interesting kits. The one I like the most is the Falcăo 20, or Falcon 20.

A handsome model indeed, Martin.
Thanks for sharing the link - foreign models are seldom seen.

Aerobrás is the oldest hobby shop in the country, and the most important to build the body of modelists for the last 50 years or more
ok, the last 15 years was dominated by google and newcomers that only lives on the internet, so before that, Aerobras ruled!
if you enter the shop today, the smell of balsa brings you straight to your childhood, like a time machine!
i entered the shop in 1984 with my late Grandpa and he bought me the Olimpia Junior contorline model, this lead to a lifelong career as a hobbist and professional
the guy that helped me at the balcony was Fernando, a legendary man, who still is standing there helping newcomers with the same care as back in the 80´s, 70´s.....lol
tha shop indeed still looks the same as back in the eighties!
and Fernando keep dying his hair to keep the general look of the place!
i have build most of aerobras designs over the years, all old fashion saw band cut or "die crunched"
thanks for bringing aerobrás to the worldwide status Martin!

Don Hutchinson has a couple of excellent F86 profile plans.

Hi Michael,

I do not know much about the kit, but if you have a specific question I can ask him.

But I can tell you in advance that the model is for having fun flying very fast and from what I have heard is not a good model for stunt.

Hi Martin, Thanks for the response. What is the wingspan of the model? Is it a built up wing? I'm guessing it doesn't have flaps. Does it have landing gear?  Thanks again, Michael  H^^

hello Michael!
i have built the Sabre back in the 80´s
it´s just for fun as Martin said, no good for combat (original purpose) and even worse for stunt! no flaps, single leg landing gear
dead engine, drop as a rock lol!
have found a few pictures of the plans so you can have an ideia

Hi, gents
As said, a strictly-for-fun bird. But, it's a classic Brazilian design, built by many who like bits looks, usually with 29/35 engines, mostly Fox. I'm attaching two pictures taken at a Sabre-only meeting some years ago, at my former club, in Rio de Janeiro. Hope I posted them correctly!
Regards
Ferenc

Looks like a real fun type plane.  I can vaguely remember when we flew just for the fun of with families bringing pic nic lunches.  The toddlers were under a play pen that was inverted on a blanket.  Then some how the competition started and the pic nics plus family got left out.  I like the looks of that Sabre Jet.
