Doesn't Okie Air, Brodak's, or SIG ship to Canada?

What's it been about a month?
yes, almost a month. I'm sure they'll arrive soon.

With the covid thing anything that one might consider to have been "normal" with Canada Post is totally thrown out the window, at least locally. Couple cases in point: I ordered a small lot of items from Great Hobbies. The order info stated the items would be shipping free of charge from the Ontario Mississauga outlet (just down the road from me by approx. 3 hours).  That was June 15.  I've been tracking the order but tracking updates have been sparse until today.  The Canada Post tracking update today (first in weeks) says, "expected delivery by July 9, by the end of the day".  That will be 31 days since the order was supposedly picked up by Canada Post.  Some details indicate that it may have still been sitting in Mississauga until today.  So bear in mind, this is not crossing an international border, as I live in Canada.  It's not even crossing a provincial border.  All the web site info states is basicly  "if you can't track it on-line then don't bother calling us because we won't pick up the phone to hear your case."

Second story: I'm sending important paperwork away and would like it to get there within a couple days.  I go direct to the Canada Post depot in town and deal with the guy behind the glass.  I was going to spend the big bucks to ensure it got there pronto.  "Don't bother", he says.  "There are absolutely no guarantees that your envelope will get there within the advertised 1 to 2 days", says he.  "Go with the cheaper Express Post", says he.  "Covid protocols  have changed everything."   What really sort of pissed me off was his total lack of care in the way he said it.  It was kind of a "Like it or lump it" attitude.

So if your going the Canada Post route...don't hold your breath.

Yeah , Canada Post is the slowest I’ve ever seen it . The local license outlet has been closed by CV-19 so I ordered my new stickers for the van in early May . Between the provincial bureaucrats and the post office my stickers are still not here ! The transaction is on my iPad so if I get pulled over for expired plates I have proof of purchase. As for my drivers license and health card renewals that will have to wait until the office opens as I need new photos taken .

The provincial government has been allowing expired plates etc. slide until things are back up and running. I was a witness at a accident recently and the cop told me his license was expired also and not to worry about it .

Our locals in BC always say that Canadian postage is high, not for the shipping costs, but for the storage costs. As a result, most have a NEXUS pass and a private post box in Blaine, and aren't ashamed of crossing the border to speed their purchases arrival.   y1 Steve

That would work if the border wasn’t closed . The way things are going it may be next year before things even approach normal .

My old combat buddy lives 60 kilometres from me in Sterling Heights Michigan. He usually flys at the field in the back forty at my farm . This year all we can do is talk on the phone. No flying here or going over to pick up bits or shopping at the Prop Shop . That’s a minor inconvenience compared with some folks but still it’s a pain .

Very true.  There used to be A LOT of mail carried across The Ambassador Bridge in Detroit and the ferry boat from Marine City.  Before their pier was washed out by an icebreaker a couple years ago, the US-based boat actually had an address to receive mail for Canada.

Tom Morris sells bits like eyelets.  I always bought from him at The Brodak, but I think he still does E ordering.

Well, don't hold your breath.   I'm heading for the local USPS in the AM Monday morning to see where two packages are at.    One has tracking that says is in transit.  The other one is coming from PCH.   Both have been over two weeks in transit.

Hope after election time things will clear up a little and maybe some one will get jail time.   But, money will keep them free I guess. S?P

Doc,

Good luck!

I've always had friendly service with the USPS, but have never had to report lost mail.
