Title: Bought my first ARF
Post by: Gary Dowler on August 30, 2018, 09:40:48 PM
Innocently browsing in my local hobby shop today I found myself confronted with a Flight Streak ARF kit. Couldn't resist.   I'm amazed at the weight. Weighing it in segments including all hardware,  including my OS 20fp with muffler on it, it came to 25.3 oz. Same 400sq in as my Cosmic Wind, but 9oz lighter.
Guven tgat my Cosmic Wind isn't hurting for power with the 20fp at 34 oz, I'm thinking a 15FP is in order on this.

Anyone got a 15FP with muffler for a decent price?

Gary

It will go better with the 20, although it would probably fly OK with the 15.

In the mean time you can wire the throttle open.  It takes a bit of dinking with to get the opening right.  On some engines (I dunno about the FP) you can flip the barrel around and use the idle stop screw as a setscrew, or you can hold them open with a spring against the idle stop screw.

I wonder if you could put the carb back on eBay & get some money for it?

IMHO and Memory,
too short motormounts,
too soft fuse plywood doublers,
flimsy nose section,
keep an eye on "well balanced" prop,
plastic spinner tend to vibrate,
I would epoxy one hardwood Triangle between left/inside fuse doubler and
wing leading edge to stiffen the nose section.
One of my flying buddies broke off the nose by a snap.
SORRY: IMHO …..this ARF should be modified.
Sorry my English is not so good this time.

Got another OS 20FP enroute.  The one I won (ebay) had a carb, so I ordered a venture and NVA set for it.   Its a kit with a derlin venture, and for reasons I don't understand, a Enya nva including special drill bit.  Hope this works......
