Title: BOSS 529 Profile Stunt
Post by: Chuck_Smith on October 28, 2012, 03:48:39 PM
Thought for fun I would do something different and build a profile out of stuff I had laying around the shop.

Got all the parts made, needs a few nights finish sanding and she's ready to cover.

Not really 529 in^2, more like 519, but being a Ford Mustang guy it just had to end in '29.

Anyway, the idea was to design one that was intermediate build level to get someone past the Ringmaster/Twister stage and into a sheeted and cap-stripped wing. Biased slightly to turn better outside than inside but should still have plenty of rotation at the bottom of the hourglass.

If any one is interested I can post the MAC, tvC and all the other data. For now just know it has a 16.5 percent version of my TLAR airfoil, 45" span. Should be very nice with good .35S or any .40. This one is light so for giggles I may use a new in-the-box Fox .35 I found in the shop. It's got to be from around 1977 and it's completely corrosion free... like new condition!

I like to fly old parts that have history, so the tailwheel is off of Bob Zambelli's  green Euclid he gave me after flying in the CNE back in the early 70's.

Nope, it's a clean sheet design.

I like the looks of the plane.   It reminds me of the aerobatic planes of full scale competition.   Yours has nice clean lines that kind of flow and is attractive.

That is a cute airplane!  y1

The only thing I would do or change is the webs (or lack of) in the wings.Good luck, Jerry
