Have any of you recently received e mails that appear to be from members of this forum with other members e mail addresses contained in the sent to address line at the top of the e mail? They are usually addressed with RE like they are replying to you and they have an attached link that they want you to click on.
I have received 3 or 4 of these just recently and I know they are not from people on this forum. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this and was wondering if anyone else is getting them. I have no idea what the link contains because I will not open them.

OHH NOOO!!!! I hope that it doesn't start in here... I've heard about some people getting emails from places that they belong to...
~^ :'(

Here is a screen shot of one of them.

Yes that has been posted on here I beleive. If you do not do E-Mail with the individual on a regular basis, don't open the link. I usually send an E-Mail to person in question. There are people that need their g****s removed when they are caught, instead of just slapping their hands. VD~

Hey Mike looks like i been hijacked. Will have to change my email, as soon as i figure out how. Ron. '' VD~

Ron, just change your password for your email; I went through this a couple of times a year or so ago and finally changed my email password - problem went away (at least until someone figures out my new password.)
-
Its not coming from here.

I deleted that one when I got it. But I have had computer trouble since it came. It has wasted about 8 hours of valuable time.

Tom when I say your and Ron's name in the distribution list line, I got concerned. I don't know how these morons do this but I hate this kind of stuff..

I just got an email from a flying buddy that had a link attached. Clear scam for insertion of a trojan. I killed it, but am doing a current sweep to make sure nothing I didn't want arrived. I emailed the friend to let him know.

Never ever click a link in an email unless you are expecting to receive a link you asked for. If someone even forwards me a joke or the othe crap that gets forwared around the net I don't read, just hit the delete key...

Yup!
I had my old email account get jacked a few weeks ago. Sent out to everyone that was still in my contacts. I keep the old account for when a site makes me provide a email address just to keep form getting spam. I deleted everyone in the contacts list on the old account.
I hate all computer hackers! @@^

fixed password, sorry for the problem. Ron #^

Didja click on the link to see what kind of malware got installed on your 'puter?
;)

I got one yesterday from Michael Massey titled ( R2) then the link was a get rich ad. HB~>

It's a mystery to me how anyone could figure out my password, unless I sent it out in the clear! My password is 8 characters long. Twenty seven letters plus 9 numbers gives a possible combination of at least Thirty Six factorial. That's a lot of combinations.

It isn't necessary to hack a password to send those emails. All that is necessary is to latch on to one of those messages that is forwarded around the globe and copy the distribution list. That is why I get pissed off when I send something to a friend and he or she decides to forward it on to everyone he or she knows.

Floyd...is the a new letter? I always thought 26 was enough....
Have fun

Dick,
I thought that was how it worked as well. They spoof your email address.
But when I checked my sent items, there were 4 or 5 emails sitting in the folder. Not sure how that happened.

Hiding addresses is easy if people would use the "bcc" column in the address book. If prople are wondering why I am not sending on E-Mails it is because the addresses have not been hid. VD~

This is a common problem with a very few e-mail account suppliers.
The next time you get one of these simple little e-mails that seems to be from somemone you know, check their e-mail address. A LARGE percentage of them will be from an AOL, YAHOO or MSN e-mail account. (There may be a couple more that I don't recall off hand.)
It means their e-mail account at the e-mail provider ( AOL, YAHOO, etc.) has been hacked and is being used to send out the junk. If you notify the real person, tell them they need to (at least) go to their e-mail account and change the password.
The second thing you should ask them to do is get a REAL provider instead of the junk that is AOL, YAHOO, etc! >:D

When I send out bulk mailing I use the BCC in the address column. For the people on my mailing list the only thing the see is To: Undisclosed Recipient. Also, when I forward something I remove all other addresses.
