Bob Hunt's Caprice!
« on: January 22, 2007, 08:35:06 PM »
In the Stunt "Lady" grunt section, there are some pictures posted of Bob's Caprice "back in the day".  A dark blue (??) with red and white trim.  At least Bob is in the picture and it says "Caprice" on the wing". :D

Ok, Bob, I am going to build a Caprice in the not too distant future, and that is EXACTLY how I want to paint it!  I couldn't come up with a better paint scheme IMHO, if I tried!

Got any more pictures??

Thanks

Thanks, Bob.  I hope the "book" is available soon.

"I'm especially glad to see these photos posted because there are a few who have suggested that the Caprice never existed. Well, here's the proof!"  (from another post)

In reference to your statement above, that I quote, I find it very disconcerting that there are those who are so "suspicious" about the existence of certain planes.  I must conclude that if they are THAT suspicious of other's motives, just how "honest" are they, themselves?  This is an Event meant for our enjoyment, and I'm sure that there are many designs that only a few knew about, but are no less real because of it!  No one could have seen EVERY stunt model that has been built or flown in a contest.

BTW: I would love to see more pictures of the original Caprice!  y1 ;D

Well, I'd certainly buy the CD. Sounds facinating. And I agree with Bill. I learned to fly at Whittier Narrows in the late 60s. There were a lot of planes at that time that I know were never published and are now mostly lost. Be nice if some pictures, at least, survived.

Bob, the old DOC Holliday here wants to be on the list of the package you have listed.   I still remember the first time I met you in Lake Charles, LA in one of the work hangars.  We were making lines for F2C and you were rubbing the finish on your plane.  My pilot at the time told you we were making flags for a tall masted schooner.  Anyway you have went on to greatnessand I still try to compete.   I am not as dedicated as some.  But, as I keep telling Jim Lee, you don't want me to get serious.  See ya down the road,  DOC Holliday

Can someone list some specs on the Caprice?
Span, area, engine sugestions etc...

I understand its Nobler-ish and if it is in that 50-52"span area it will be at the top of my list for Classic contenders with my old beloved 40FP. I'd go straight to the Bearcat 3, but I don't really have room for another full size beast right now. The Caprice is just too pretty to ignore!

I can't quote the span, but I believe it is around 52".  It is a traditional "35" size Classic plane which means the FP 40 would be real good power for it.  I can't remember whether  Bob used the OS 35S in it or what he used originally.

This must have been before Bob bought that 55 gallon drum of bronze paint.
