Blushing dope
« on: January 24, 2018, 09:05:30 AM »
It has been many years since I did a dope and silk finish. I had about 5 coats of clear on and it was looking good. However the last coat "blushed" and it looks real bad on black silk. How do I get rid of the blush? I have already used all my retarder in the clear and it did not help.

Pick a low humidity day and spray another coat of clear. Some people spray a coat of thinner first.

Bill, like previously stated, when I get blushing, spraying on a thin coat of thinner has worked for me....Gene

I more or less followed Eddy R's advice. I brushed on a quick coat of thinner followed by a light coat sprayed on. Looks to have done the job. Thanks for the advice.

Stop embarrassing your dope and it will be less likely to blush, Bill! :P
