I know there aren't anymore 'flyovers' at NASCAR and other outdoor sporting events, but does this mean that the "Blue Angles" (sic) and USAF's "Thudnerbergs" (sic) are no longer? Anybody heard for sure?  :'( Steve

I believe the Thunderbird shows are cancelled after April.  Haven't heard about the "Blues"

The Thunderbirds were here for the Daytona 500, but the ceilings were too low for a flyby (1200ft if I remember correctly)

Anybody got one of these?   ;D

1978, took a bunch of CAP Cadets.

We all got a brochure and meet some of the Pilots.

Breathtaking for the young Cadets! Well OK, me too.   #^

Having been to the Las Vegas race several times I would bet they will still do the flyover this weekend since Nellis is next to the Speedway. Hopefully Fox will show more of the fly over than they do sometimes.
Last weekend in Arizona the flyby was done by a Confederate Air Force B-17.

As an X-Air Force pilot I know that every squadron has a monthly flying time budget that it meets to the last tenth of an hour.  If they can do a stadium flyby within the budget it doesn't cost anything.  At Reese AFB Texas they did flybys for Texas tech football games and it didn't change the budget a penny.

But the T-Birds and Angels road trip is another thing altogether.  Those road shows cost huge money.  In a time of belt-tightening to bounce the budget, air shows are a good place to cut.  Also a round trip to Hawaii in a 747 for a round of golf.
