Bob,
Snow is one of the reasons you and I left the "Ardsley/Hartsdale,NY area"
No snow here on Merritt island,FL,  but it was in the high 30's.

You did not move far enough to the south.    LL~

Stay warm,
Roger V.

I have every bit of 16" in Phila area now and it's gaining by the hour. I've been shoveling for 3 hours and as fast as you remove it, you turn around and your in another inch. The plow truck with chains is getting stuck on the hill and has to back all the way down. It's the no fun wet stuff that is not easy to remove and sticks to the shovel. We've been pretty fortunate so far this year. Ken

The BLIZZARD  in Georgia  was much worse, we got at least 2 times the snow that you have there, in places we have snowdrifts that are at least 1/2 to 3/4 in thick !!!

I've been lucky in that we may have gotten inch or so, but it was dry and easy to remove with a broom.   I do expect a bygone before winter is over.  Great being retired.

We got about 5 inches of snow close to Charlotte  nc , I got in a couple flights today in our horse pasture , thanks to a good layer of ice on top of the snow ,

Nice smoothie takeoff and landing area.

Until mid Februari no winter in sight here... n1
For almost a week we had temperatures below freezing up to yesterday, but today as high as +10 deg. :'(
Too bad, since 2008 we are craving for scenes like this:

Heh!  My parents got snow flurries in Hot Springs AR, and they darn near panic every time. Along with everyone else in the general area (basically, a retirement area). If there is a forecast for *any* snow, everybody in town heads off the Krogers so they can lay in supplies for a hard winter.

Here in South Jersey we're looking at about 18"+ with drifts three feet or more and very windy. Everything here is at a standstill. '' Ed.

Yeah I bet Kroger sends a little kickback to the TV and Radio stations for those threatening forecasts Lol.

Okay Mister Z, does that mean we're gonna see you at the Fort tomorrow?
We'll be gathering about the usual time.

It's 5:23 PM, 47 F and "The Sky Is Crying" here at my house. No sneaux.   ;D Steve

PS: Don't forget the eggs to go with the milk and bread. Also, we get "Silk", which is made from almonds. Nice for the lactose intolerant (wife), but also has a much longer shelf life.

Dang, red and underlined, I guess it'll be up to me to provide comic relief then.

Not long after I arrived in Fort Worth, around 1980 or so, the weather forecast predicted a winter storm.   Ice, sleet, etc.  Since I grew up in northwest Indiana on the shore of Lake Michigan I thought nothing of it.  Things like this happen all the time up there so no big deal, right?

Well, it was and still is a big deal here.  On my way home from work I stopped in a Safeway to get a few items.  The parking lot was full.  No shopping carts available.  When I walked in the store the lines at the registers went all the way back to the rear of the store.  Not one loaf of bread left, not one gallon of milk, no eggs, etc.  One woman had two carts full--one with food, the other with only toilet paper.  I could not figure that one out.  You would think that mass starvation was imminent.

That night, not one snowflake, not one sleet pellet, hit the ground.

Ned  I loved the video of the young skater on speed skates. As a young person in upstate NY I started skating at four years old and skated with and trained the US olympic team for ten years.

In Sarnia Ont. when it snows and drifts over 3ft or more we simply call it "tuesday" (or whatever day of the week it happens to be) and get on with life. Sister in-law complained of "no snow on Christmas Day".  I wanted to punch her.

Skating on canals, lakes, ditches and what more is in the Dutch DNA.
But global warming is hitting us hard, since the 1960-ies our winters with prolonged sub zero temperatures are diminishing by the decade at an ever faster rate :'(.
Looks very grim. I haven't taken out my long track blades for over 15 years (I had the flu during that week in 2008 VD~), been doing Short Track exclusively, including coaching for 20+ years, hung up my stopwatch 5 years ago. Nowadays I'm just a recreational short track skater, a breed just as rare as a CLPA pilot over here.

NYC 25inches. Folks are walking around. Streets are plowed wherever I walked. Not bad.

Guess we in NYC were braced for a repeat of Super Storm Sandy. 25 inches of snow easy to handle. No power outages. No flooded subways. I've lived in NYC off and on for nearly 70 years. Never had anything like Sandy. Areas of city flooded out. Power stations flooded. Subway flooded. Manhattan bellow 40th no power. Potential flood plane along the street where I live. Times they're a changing.

No snow here. Great gobs of rain. My driveway is flooded and the normally happy little creek is a raging river. Joy.

Just two hours from my house we had 66" inches of snow. Mt Mitchell NC just under 7000 ft. I had 6" of snow and ice at my house.  No ice skating for me as I am afraid of falling at my age.

I got an inch or so of snow followed by a nice layer of ice.  It took me over two hours with a floor scrapper (a red neck snow shovel) to create a path out of my drive way!  Probably won't be flying for the next few days :(

Stop Yapping and start building. When the man made global warming hoax kicks in it will be warm all the time and if you haven't  got a supply of planes to fly your out of luck.
