Title: Bladder compartment question
Post by: Cody bishop on November 22, 2018, 06:47:38 PM
I am making some bladder compartments for speed limit combat wings (yankee nipper to be exact) and I would like to know what are people using for plastic ends and where’s do they buy them the tubing I’m using is about 2 1/8” fluorescent light guard.

Sharpen the end as best you can, and use it as a die to cut into some soft sheet balsa, then epoxy the plug in place. Finding something off the shelf will be very difficult. The tube protectors require some sort of fitting on the end that you may be able to plug in a similar fashion and epoxy in place.
  Type at you later and
   HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

if you have foam board in the shop use that.  I have used what ever was laying around.  Scrap Balsa, foam board or plastic lids from gaitoraid bottles.

Cody they do make ends for what your seeking. Neil Simpson uses them. I just do as Dan mentions and use the tube as a die on 3/16 balsa. I then cut a slight bit heavy of the mark and sand a taper from that mark to the inside so the end fits snug. I coat the inside with epoxy first letting it dry insuring that it lays level with no prickly points. in addition, if you make the cut snug, you don't need any end caps. Just use the foam of the wing.
