That's too bad. I always thought that Model Builder was one of the best general model airplane magazines of its era. And Bill was smart enough to hire Dirt, who is arguably the best hobby writer I have ever read.

Bill actually called me and asked me to write the Free Flight column, which I was flying at the time. I was smart enough to thank him for the offer and politely declined. Hard to believe, I know. Bill always seemed like one of the good guys. Godspeed, Mr. Northrop H^^

Post by: Larry Renger on June 01, 2012, 11:11:47 PM: Having written a colum for Bill for 5 years, I got to know him. He was a really dedicated modeler, and put his heart into developing the best general interest model magazine possible.

Bill was instrumental in developing large scale models, though I don't think it went in the direction he had in mind. (Light, sport models).

There is a dvd available with every issue. I don't have the contact info, but it is available. I highly recommend it. (I have all the originals available!)

I will miss seeing him at the model shows. :'(
