Could someone please provide me the contact info for Bills Decals?
Thanks! y1

Thanks Ty, I saw that too. Anyone have a phone number?

I will look later at some of my old papers and get Bill's number and PM you.
I sent him a set of Jetco Sabre Stunt decals (they were just good enough to copy! LOL!!) wth the idea of using them on my Bob Champione Lampione Sabre. That was a couple years ago and I lost touch. Need to get back to him! Bill is really a great guy. ;D

His name is, "Bill Calkins" from somewhere around the Chicago area. He flies carrier mostly. DOC Holliday

I talked to Bill last night on the phone and he made it abundantly clear that he has NO interest in doing any decal work at this time, or for the forseeable future.

If you go to Walmart, somewhere in the plastic model section, you may find a decal making set from Testors. This is a small kit that has 1/2 of an 8 1/2 x 11 (8 1/2 x 5 1/2) sheet of decal paper. This might be big enough for your needs. You scan in or create the inage you want, print it onto the special paper, spray the paper with a special coating (AFTER the ink has dried over night, the coating is in the kit), and you end up with a water slide decal. Your LHS may also have this kit and full sized sheets of paper. It worth learning to do!

I've made one attempt at making my own decals. FS with a monocoated wing. I used adhesive-backed paper from Staples and an inkjet printer. I used clear packing tape over the image and then stuck it to the wing.
I need to rethink the next time I do this, and use different materials. Morning dew really wreaked havoc on a couple of them .... water got up underneath the decals. Exhaust residue was also unkind. Clear fingernail polish worked to seal the edges after the fact, but cosmetically looked like crap.
I'll need to search for these Testors decal sheets ... and then keep perfecting the appearance. Its worth it though to use your own graphics.

The whole process was well-explained, including souces, in a recent (that's an understatement, they were all in the last two years) issue of Control Line World.
I tried it. Worked pretty good.

The decals on the yellow wing were recreated using the Testor's decal kit. The other photo shows the 1957 decals I started with.

Great stuff guys! Those are some cool 1/2A models, very nicely done!
At this time I don't have the necessary computer equipment available to make my own decals, but I am aware of the general process. This time around I'm just looking for a quick easy way to get the ones I need, otherwise I'll just do without for now. Currently, I hear Jim Snelson at CLC may be able to help me out and I'm working on getting ahold of him.
Thanks!

Paul, is there a reason for the yellow stripes in the insignia? I don't remember ever seeing the stars and bars in that color format. DOC Holliday
