Big Batteries
« on: March 14, 2025, 05:10:16 PM »
This is in response to a PM from a friend.  I am posting here because you can't attach anything to a PM.  I had a dilemma in finishing my Endgame IV Twin.  With out knowing better I build my electronics around two Spin Pro 33 ESC and a special size 6s 2800 battery pack.  Plane nearly finished I discovered that the Spin Pro would not support a 6s battery.  Make it worse, the 5s TP 2800 fleet was too tall to fit the battery box.  I mentioned this to one of our recent RC crossovers (watch out, these guys learn FAST) and he said he had some 5s 4200's that might fit and he would never use them.  With a little tweaking they fit and here they are.  The pack is 1/4" longer and 1/4" taller than the li-ion 6s pack but smaller than the TP 5s 2800.

In case you are curious, even with the extra weight the plane is still slightly tail heavy.  Why add lead when you can add battery!

Don't know for sure what cells he used but the battery in the PIX powered the Twin Tuesday.

Nice work, a great way to get more watts than the TP 2800 6s for about the same weight.  Did you make your own?

We all use Li-ion for the most part and several in our group make them.
