"1/2 A" Day with Philly Fliers 4/30/17
« on: April 27, 2017, 06:41:53 PM »
After poor weather kept us from having our famous 1/2A Day back in March we decided to do it this Sunday April 30 at the Benjamin Rush State Park /NE Philly Radio Control Club flying field. Not a contest ,just a bunch of modelers flying 1/2A stuff. Everyone is invited. The last one was fantastic! Starting around 10am,The site is located at Roosevelt Blvd and Southampton Rds in NE Philly.  Please come out and join in the fun....PhillySkip

Fabulous response. Fun fun fun. Retreads are showing up. We're poaching RC guys. Who find what we do challenging. Rewarding. Harder than RC?

Dennis after 45 years of flying R/C it didn't take a whole lot of arm twisting that fateful day when Dinnerman and Stecker baited me into trying C/L again. I did about 3 level laps with Stecker's Flite Streak .Then flipped her on her back into inverted, loops and lazy eights followed. They went nuts....how does this "R/C" guy know how to do  this stuff?.... It's like riding a bike, you never forget.

I'm hooked on "stunt" big time now and only think about the R/C  in regards to the Club 40 Pylon Racing.

Until that fateful  day two seasons ago.The last time I flew stunt was at a Johnsville contest around 1972 (maybe)B Hunt and  Gene S were there. Gene S flew his plane for about a minute dead stick after completing his pattern. I still don't know how that was possible. I remember Hunt was wearing white shoes and slacks....very spiffy actually. Good memories for real.

The C/L guys here and elsewhere will probably seek out Dinnerman and Stecker for punishment for getting me back involved in this mess...PhillySkip

Skip motivates the rest of us. Yep. I saw Gene do that at a Lake Charles Nats. Bob Hunt wore white. Al Rabe flew one his Mustangs. 1973, I think.
