Post by: Avaiojet on May 22, 2014, 01:35:11 PM
I'm looking for large 4-blade clockwise rotation electric props.

12 or13 inches. CF is OK.

Thanks in advance.

Dennis,

You would think there would be?

I'll have to settle with a three blade electric prop. Plan B.

I could go 13 or 14 in that?

Who's got um?

Charles

Mark,

I had an idea they would be costly, but I really wanted the look.

Frank,

Wouldn't each one need to be trimmed to center the blades? Loss of material may not be a good thing. Not sure about that?

Thanks for the replies.

Is this for scale? IF so the scale prop and the flight prop are not the same.  Rules allow for a 4 bladed scale prop for judging and a 2 bladed prop for flight.

John,

Stunt scale, I hope. It's on the drawing board.

Yes, guys have static props just for judging, I know that.  I don't compete, so I won't need a static prop for judging.

I would just like the appearance and be able to use the same prop for flying.

I did consider competing with my Gee Bee E once, eons ago, when I built the model. Made this static prop and never used it.

I was going to have it framed under glass but didn't want to spend the money.

Not the easist thing to sell either.

Thanks for the reply.

Charles,

Xoar makes a whole range of 3-blade props.  They are well finished.  They are balanced.  They are fairly close to the advertised pitches.  You might have to order direct from China as it might be difficult to find a distributor here in the States that stocks the sizes you are looking for.

These are not cheap and with shipping, they can get kind of pricey.

Among the many types of props they make, they make wood 3-blade props that are joined at the hub with a spliced aluminum disk with pins to secure the blades on the disk.  Very well made.  Worth a look.

These people make props for other distributors under different logo's.

The props that Bob Whitney have are well worth the money.  They work!!!

Charles, you might contact Steve Wilk (eliminatorprops.com) to discuss having a prop made to your specifications.

the problem with making a one of prop is that it takes the first 4 or 5 props sold to pay for the mold and labor
