The original RD-1 started life with an Enya 30 SS engine, and it was pretty good. Then, after the 1990 Nats, we retrofitted it with an OS 32FSR with reduced blow-down timing and it was great!
I'm not up to date with the current crop of IC engines, as I switched to electric in 2005 and have never looked back, or wanted to look back. However, if I were to build an RD-1 for glow I'd opt for a light engine. The Brodak 40 may be a good choice, as well as the Enya 32SS or a modified - as noted above - OS 32 FSR. The best choice would be a Power 15 with a 2200 5S battery... Just sayin'...
