Bellcrank Rod Placement
« on: April 21, 2019, 11:45:22 PM »
Hi Guys

Which method is more durable for big stunters?

Installing the bellcrank rod in line with the vertical lite-ply spar so that the vertical lite-ply spar can also help in absorbing some of the flight and pull test stresses)

or

installing the bellcrank rod just behind the vertical lite-ply spar.

Of course, 2 plywood plates - one on top and one on the bottom will also be fitted between the fuselage sides and over the bellcrank rod to complete the bellcrank mount.

Pic No. 1 if I have the chance. But I've done it both ways with no problems. I use  a rod with a Z bend or L bend and collar on the bellcrank and a threaded coupler/clevis at the flaps. Less trouble and less friction.
I may be wrong but I doubt it.
