Although I have not been able to spend much time modeling or flying, I still like to design. Here is the latest new next project (hopefully). For electric, a Bearcat with 617 squares, target weight of 56 ounces. Should be a lot of fun.
Changes from the old big Bearcat at 710 squares:
Obviously, smaller and lighter. I have found out that my size and weight is not in compliance with 60 sized models. The wing has been raised a little, with only a small amount of dihedral (less than 1/2"). All new +P style airfoil. Smaller tips for a more realistic look. The fuselage top and bottom sheeting is all 1/16" light balsa with stringers to support it. Overall weight of all the components is as light as reasonable. If the weight hits the mid fifties, it will be very competitive with my Mustang which is 626 squares and 57 ounces.
Here is a shot of the layout for those to gander.
