Bean Field Gran Prix Postponed
« on: June 25, 2015, 04:26:05 PM »
Please Note !!!,

Due to the very messy weekend forecast the "Beaner" is going to be on the 1st and 2nd of August instead of this coming weekend . We will run all the scheduled events - OTS,profile,F2B ,Sport Race ,80 MPH combat and F2D .

30 - 40 mm of rain and 40 - 45 KPH winds are forecast . Sorry for the inconvenience , hope to see you in August .

Thanks,
Brad LaPointe CD

For those of us that aren't on the inside circle here, where exactly is this event that was postponed?
Searching to find my new place in this hobby!

It's a great contest, but it's at the end of a dirt path off a single dirt road.  No fun getting trapped there after two weeks of relentless rain.

In the Google Earth shot taken in winter, the two circles are just left of centre.

Brad, it looks like the postponement is a good call.
I still haven't scraped the Brodak mud off my wellies.
August 1st sounds good to me!

Just so people know, the Bean Field is close to Detroit
on the Canadian side and the events held there are like
mini Brodaks. The Canadian Nationals are held here.
It's a pretty and very private venue. Brad slaves over
the smoothest grass stunt circle anywhere. If it's blowing hard,
bring your putter. The combat circle is a little shaggier.
Combat fliers know the Bean Field well. World class
combat happens here.
These events are usually well attended but sometimes
I wonder why there aren't more Americans.

Cheers!

Keith,
I second your comment about Brad's grass on the stunt circle.  Best I have ever seen.  Always a great time when I head over.  Big issue that I have seen is that many of the people I fly with do not have the proper documentation to make the visit.  They just do not know what they are missing.

Thanks for the kind words guys .

This morning Environment Canada issued a weather warning for this area . Rain starting around midnight Friday ending Sunday afternoon .Total accumulation up to 60 mm . Wind gusts between 40 and 70 KPH .

With over 2" of rain expected this weekend I see nothing positive trying to proceed with this contest . I really hate postponing as many have made arrangements to be here .

I hope to see everyone in a hopefully dry August .

Thanks again ,
Brad
