Title: Bay Area earthquake
Post by: Clint Ormosen on August 24, 2014, 11:20:28 AM
Hope all our Bay Area brethren are unharmed from this mornings quake. I hear it was a doozy! Check in, guys.

Edit: Looks like Napa got the worst of it.

No problem in the South Bay, it didn't wake me up. David might have a problem and perhaps Jim. The epicenter was about 3/4 mile from the flying site in Napa.

There are some buckled roads and the exit from I-80 to highway 37 is closed. I heard that the flyover section has a big gap where the sections spread apart and it may have to be taken down  but lots of rumors are flying around right now. That's a good 15 miles from David's house, but, tells you something about the degree of shaking.  Most of what I saw on local news before the national news parasites/ghouls got on the job was a bunch of stuff knocked off shelves at stores and a few gas fires,

For the rest of you this is a good-sized quake but expect cable news to blow it completely out of proportion, based on what we saw with Loma Prieta. They are still running the IndyCar race which is about 10 miles from there and as far as I know the A's game (maybe 30 miles away) and the 49er's game (about 80 miles away and now very near me in Santa Clara - a man-made traffic disaster if there ever was one) are still on.

Joy. California can be an adventure. Hope the Napa flying field survived.

Thanks for checking in Brett and Randy.  Hope we can hear something more about David and Jim soon.

My Stepson and his family live in the Bay area and He said they felt some tremors but nothing serious.

I received email from David Fitz.  All is well at his place, except some Lego structures fell off shelves and were damaged.

Uncle Jimby said his house didn't slide off the hill.

David has a comprehensive post on the other forum.  All is well at Chez Fitzgerald....except for Michael's Lego structures
