Baton Rouge fun!!
« on: October 16, 2010, 09:01:12 PM »
Pretty good turnout in Baton Rouge today. I would have stayed longer but a 2 hour drive with 3 hours sleep was kickin in so me and the gf left a lil after noon sadly.

Seen some very nice built planes. Great flying as well. I had never seen so many C/L planes in one place lol.

I bout 12 raffle tickets so hopefully I get lucky on that. Theres a couple of kits I would like :D

Had my lil air compressor sitting up front but no one seemed interested but its ok. Ill eventually get rid of that thing sooner or later :)

I will post a few pics in a lil bit when I get them uploaded off my phone.

For those of you that were there. I was the tall kid in the Green shirt sitting in the back.

2 hour drive, 3 hours sleep, gf, sounds like a good night before. Got to adjust that schedule though if you're gonna be a truly dedicated C/L dude. ;D :##

Thanks for the great pics, looks like it was a good one. y1

As I told you in hte email and the message I jsut sent Allan. I just dont know what to say to all this except a simple thank you. Its cause of people like yall that keep this hobby most enjoyable!

I jsut looked up that plane and my god its intimidating looking. As I told Tom Dixon while I was browsing his plans. Last thing I flew succesfully was a cox pt-19 and Sterling Begginers 1/2a P-51. I would almost be willing to trade it off for a good ol S-1 Ringmaster lol.

I had a great time while there. Was a bit stressful at first trying to find the circles as my gps on my Iphone sent me on the otherside of the park by the library lol. Rounding the block 4 times until I seen a plane doing a wingover over the Chevron while on Florida Blvd lol. Now I know where its located I wont hesitate to go back! Especially since I dont have to get off Highway 190 til I get 10 miles from my home in Mamou ( roughly 2 hour drive ).

I really cannot wait til the next event that rolls around! PLus I met up with a guy that is part of a club not 30 minutes from me and I thought Control Line flying in my area was extinct.

I thank yall again for this. Brought a big smile to my face!!!

Judges on the concrete were Doug Patterson and Donnie Melancon. They toiled mightily in the sun all day Saturday so Tom Farmer and I volunteered to judge Olde Tyme Stunt, but they were back to work again on Sunday. I don't know the judges who served on the grass circle, sorry.

It was a wonderful meet, as B.R. always is, enjoyed by all. Thanks,

If you did not have fun this past weekend you were not in Baton Rouge!

I know I had a good time as yesterday attempted 3 times to wake up.

Out flew everyone in the beginners pattern and that includes me, myself and I! First and last place every time LL~
The Dog didn't eat anyone.
No broken airplanes or props, all fingers in place and attached.
Learned allot and need a tach. y1
Met new friends and old and no diapers were involved, major improvement I hope! LL~
Will try to have everyone's names sorted better in my head next time. HB~>

Jamie, Thought I saw you on the way to grab something to eat and then you were gone before I made it back.
Will have to let Allen clear this up but I think your ticket won the airplane.
Glad Allen donated the engine as all the way home was trying to think what I had that would do for an engine and couldn't come up with any thing.
Thanks for the pics!

Doug,(CD) All judges, Fliers and Crews H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^ H^^

Thanks to everyone!

No, but she did get a chunk out of my right leg.

W.D. it was a pleasure to meet you.
I talked with Jamie last night and told him you are the "MAN" to help him get up started on the right track, and would be happy to do so.

Wow Allen!
Did not realize she actually made contact! Let me know if we need to do something.
Obedience school next week!
Did enjoy flying with you, sorry I gave Sunday afternoon as would have liked to stay and fly more with you and the others.

Thanks for the kind words but so far have only proven that I can out fly myself n~

According to Google maps Jamie is about 40min from me as the crow flies.

Sent you some info to the email.
Do not worry about crashing we need the practice. HB~>

Yes that is my German Sheppard. Allen was the weekends Guinea pig in training her to eat competing Stunt fliers.
Have to get them pre flight cause she(dog) gets dizzy and lets go if done during official. n~
She did a good job so time to get her a fresh bone. #^

I had a great time at the Red Stick.  Thanks to Doug and Tommy and the rest of the Baton Rouge team that made it happen.  Saturday's lunch of jambalaya and white beans, you cant beat that.  And then I heard there was a pretty decent raffle.

I picked up some goods tips from Joe Gilbert and Tom Dixon for my Chevelle.  Hopefully I can use them and get a better stunt run out of my Stalker.  If it works out OK I'll be heading to Eldorado in a couple of weeks.

The other judges at the Baton Rouge contest were Richard Patterson and Nick Iuzza judging Basic flight/Beginner, as well as pull testing and pit duties. Special thanks to the registration, raffle, and tabulation ladies-(Cathy Causey and Kathleen Patterson), to Nick, Richard, Gil Causey, Merle, and John Violette in keeping the flying field in great shape. In addition, I cannot thank Dale Gleason and Tom Farmer enough for volunteering to judge the OTS event. Donnie and I were pretty much used up by the time the OTS event came up. Besides the event was in much more capable hands as far as judging goes, since Donnie and I had never judged OTS before. Lastly, there is one fellow who deserves most of the credit for a successful contest and his name is Tommy Mansur. He is the wheel in the middle of the wheel. We would not have what we have now at our field without his leadership. All this being said, Guys, the contest results are found in the "Calendar at a Glance" header under sub-section "Contest Results". Put'em there this morning

I was talking about heat from the weather,    NOT the "heat of competition".  THAT I'll be ready for...

The gauntlet is thrown.  Now we can have fun talking trash till next year.    LOL   You had an easy time of it in PA at the Red Stick.  My intention is to not let that happen again..

Motors...          What choices do you have to pick from, or are you talking about buying something new.
I been thinking about trying one of those new Enya 61 RE's on a pipe.

I have a Novar (highly modified) on the paint stand, ready for trim colors.  Should get it in the air by the end of the year.
It will have a PA65 that I bought about a year ago, used but with a fresh rebuild by Randy..  I just recently mounted it on test stand and put 4~5 runs on it.  Man that thing is sweet.  I would be comfortable putting it up right now, but I will put another 20 or so runs on it first.
