Tupynike II (51) by Sérgio Alberto Daeuble - Plans and video

Commanders, here we are again bringing a bigger version from the Tupynike Jr.
This is its bigger brother, the Tupynike II. The plane is designed around the popular 40 to 51 range. Sérgio built this version to start to competing F2B in the Intermediate and also in FAI categories using his own designed plane. He told me that the Tupynike II flies as nicely as his Sig Magnum does. The wingspan of the model is 149 cm (58,6 inches). Sérgio is using a stock ST G 51 CL, and second him, the plane flies very well with this set-up.

Glenn, we all have different talents. I, for example, could never do the work that you did. Similarly, my late father-in-law—he died in 1989—was a brilliant pharmaceutical chemist credited internationally for the critical breakthrough that led to theophylline tablets for the treatment of asthma and yet, he used to look on in abject horror when I wanted to take a screwdriver to his Chrysler Valiant. As if that was technology beyond the reach of somebody who, as a trainee engineer, built race engines for minis and MG Midgets as part of the job.

Hi, today I had the chance to meet Sérgio, and talking with him about the Tupynike he inform me that he put an video about the model in YT. The video shows some details of the model construction, the engine break in and also flying. Here is the video link

Sadly this very nice model was destroyed during a training flight.
So Sérgio told us that he is studying some mods on the model to update his flying performace and also to improve its looks.
He will go to build the "Evo" model using the design mods.

Hi, talking with Sérgio again, he told me he started the construction of a new Tupynike and that he is posting pictures in the forum below.
His hand cuttings are very fine as you can see in the pics.
The forum is in portuguese, but there are some nice pics too.

The new and improved Tupynike EVO just finished. Here it is at a recent meeting at Curitiba/PR known as Aerofolia 2013.

This version is improved in relation to the the Tupynike II, destroyed in a training flight. Its employs many carbon fiber parts, new wingtips design and a lighter construction

Hi Steve, I exchanged an email with Sérgio in order to try to answer your question the better as I can.

In simple words "Tupy" were brazillian formers native indians, and the term "Tupiniquim" refers to things relationed with them.

Sérgio´s late father (Mr Jorge Daeuble i.m) liked the name and Sérgio start to develop some own aerobatics designs and named the models with this name. Later his father said to Sérgio that the name "Tupiniquim" was so simple and had no glamour. So with a touch of humor Sérgio converted the original name that was "Tupiniquim" to "Tupynike" giving it some "international" flavour changing some letters. This is the the short history from the model´s name
