BAD NEWS--- VERY BAD NEWS
« on: November 21, 2007, 06:45:15 PM »
There is a post over on SSW forum  that was posted by Riley Wooten (Lone Star Balsa).  The building in Lancaster, TX  Burned to the ground today.
I called Riley and verified that it was true.  No other info available at this time.

That is very, very bad news as I was just getting ready to make an order.  Did Riley say if they are going to rebuild or not?  DOC Holliday

Man, this place is an modeling institution! They've been supplying builders for so long, I can't rembmer it not being there! I can't believe it's gone. Well, if Mr. Wooten decides to restart his business, I pledge a $200 order.

As I just posted on SSF.

This is a shock. I was there this morning. I left about 10:30 AM.

I hope that no one was hurt, and that Riley will rebuild.

They will have to wait til the Insurance (if any) pays off before any rebuilding can be considered.  I would imagine that will take several weeks if not months.  When I talked to Riley, he said that the fire Dept had not determined the cause or had at least not called him.  I too will pledge a right goodly sized order.
They will have to buy new machinery and all the packagin computers etcto support the business.  THAT will be a huge undertaking.
I am really glad that I have a good stock of wood to last me for a while

Man, that's terrible. I too was just getting ready to make a big balsa order. I hope that Riley and Mike will be able to rebuild.

This is indeed a disaster.  If he doesn't rebuild, we're doomed.  No kits from Brodak's, either..... :'(

Since there is no word of any injuries, I feel better.  But it is STILL horrible!  I hope Riley picks back up and starts over.  It won't be easy, but we definitely NEED Riley, Mike, and Lone Star!

One of the local news stations said that the fire happened after everyone had gone home and that there were no injuries.

I just got my latest order yesterday before we left town for Thanksgiving.  We were down on business back in January and got to spend a little time there, glade nobody was hurt but this is a lost landmark.  I'll also have a good order when he is up and running again.

That is bad news.  I just got the plans in for the Old Veco Worrior and was planning to start on it shortly.  Hope I have enough wood.  Sure don't want to have to use brand X wood, I am to used to the good stuff!  You have my support for a new start.

I finally got the oppertunity to meet my boyhood idle Riley Wooten at VSC 19 and what a gentleman.  And now to hear this terrable news I really feal bad for Mr. Wooten.  I have been buying my wood from Lonestar for decades, lets all say prayer he returns we really need people like Riley for our hobby to continue.
