Title: Bad day at the field
Post by: Russell Shaffer on July 16, 2009, 02:07:48 PM
Maybe I should have stayed home.  The orange one has a broken nose behind the motor mounts - I started a wingover from inverted and pulled up.  Whoops.  The red one is somewhat worse, but repairable - that one quit at a bad place in an outside loop.  This is why I fly Flite Streaks - they are easy to patch.

Yeh, and grass fields are wonderful.  This one was well watered today.  Nice and soft.

Wish my profile would have been fixable. It probably was, but when they are in 8 pieces after an encounter asphalt poisoning (better known as deceleration trauma), I feel like it's time to move on.

I may scrap out the red one.  That wing has been broken off before and the nose was bent pretty bad also.  I've been flying it for 3 years and it was my basic trainer so I have certainly got my use out of it.   The wing root is a real mess after the last big repair job and this one sure won't make it any better.  The balsa for a Streak only costs about $20, so it may just be replaced.  The orange one is already almost repaired, and besides, it has been launched by David Fitzgerald, so it has some sentimental value.  I flew begginer at the NW Regionals and David launched for me and both of his kids beat me.  That has to mean something.

Right, Mark.  I plan to go back tomorrow with something else.  The problem is that the planes fly faster than I think.

switch a 9-6 to a 9-5 if you can maybe you can get a little breath between what yer do and what happens.
